Today I want to discuss the Akashic Records. I've mentioned them in passing in previous blog posts, but have never really gone into detail. You might know that I offer Akashic readings, but what exactly are the Akashic Records? Why should you care about them? And, is it possible to learn to access them for yourself?
These are the questions I will be answering in today's post.
What Are the Akashic Records?
The Akashic Records as a concept have been around for millennia. Just about every world religion has the idea of some book that your deeds, good or bad, are written down in. Unfortunately, these religious ideas are usually tainted by the ego, and so the concept of judgment is also introduced, in the belief that we are judged by what is in the records.
However, the name by which we know them today was really only introduced through the Theosophical Society in the 19th century. The word Akasha is from Sanskrit, meaning “aether” or “atmosphere”. However, before this time, no one really applied the term “Akashic Records” to this concept.
With all that said, what exactly are they? Essentially, they are a record of every event to ever happen in history, as well as every event to happen in the future. They record events on both the individual soul level, as well as the global level.
Incidentally, this is why many psychics are able to detect when major events are coming up. Major global events make a much larger imprint on the Akashic Records, and so more people are able to home in on that energetic imprint and translate it into some sort of prediction.
Where are these records located? It's always hard to speak of location when it comes to spiritual topics. Many people, however, say that they are located between the astral plane and the causal plane. My own view is that this is only one door into the records, and they are much more likely to be on what we call the logoic plane. You can learn a lot more about these planes and what they are for in the course, Developing Your Psychic Potential.
The Universe Is Made of Energy
This one is pretty obvious to all those who have done any kind of spiritual work, or hung around this blog for any period of time. 🙂 But, it bears repeating.
What's this have to do with the Akashic Records? Well, essentially, you must understand that these records are not literal books in some metaphysical library somewhere on the astral. Sure, they might appear to you in that way in your visualization, or even in an astral projection, but that is not really what they are. That is only their interpreted form, so to speak.
What they are is energy. Actually, what they are is the effect of energy.
I see the records as a transactional log of every movement of energy in the Universe.
What the heck is a transactional log?
Forgive my technical analogy. Imagine a website for a moment, though. You may not know this, but every single visit to a website is logged somewhere. I mean every single visit, even if you leave the page immediately. It logs the IP address of the visitor, the page they visited, the date and time of their visit, etc. We call this an “access log”.
I see the Akashic Records in somewhat the same way. It's not that some deity or angel is sitting up there and writing down every person's experiences, though that's how many religions portray it. I especially like Islam's portrayal of these records: they teach that a “recording angel” follows you around everywhere for your whole life, and writes down everything you do.
But no, it's not quite like that. What it is is sort of an access log of energy. Every time you take some action, or even speak a word or think a thought, that is energy flowing, and it's logged in the Akashic Records.
But, whereas computer access logs are flushed (emptied) every once in a while, the Akashic Records are eternal logs of every single energetic event ever.
And, a computer access log can only give you historical data. However, the records can not only give you events from the past, but probable events from the future as well.
Talking About Probabilities
You think that's cool? The records log a lot more than that.
In my view, at least, they also record all possible timelines. I've discussed parallel realities before, but they are always a fascinating subject.
Every time you could make a decision in any number of different ways, there is a parallel reality where you have done so. If you could have stayed in bed this morning for another 10 minutes, there is a parallel reality where you did exactly that. (Lucky, right?)
And if there are parallel realities where these alternative, potential events happen, then in some way, they have actually happened. And if they have any reality whatsoever in any possible universe, then the Akashic Records must log that event.
Yes, even if it didn't happen in this particular timeline, they still make a record of that event.
If you were to witness yourself in the tapestry of time, you would see your tiny little point of consciousness poised on the intersection of millions of diverging timelines running into the future, and having millions of other timelines which have met at this one point to create this very moment. And all those branches would be barely a single strand in the vast tapestry that is our Universe.
No matter which of those millions of timelines you follow, all of them are faithfully logged for eternity. The “true” timeline doesn't really matter, and honestly there is no “true” timeline. There is just the timeline you are on right now.
You switch timelines probably thousands or more times every day. Every time you change your focus, either to the positive or to the negative, you have stepped into a new timeline.
The Akashic Records and Psychic Prediction
With all of these countless timelines, how can a psychic possibly tune in to the “right” one? What is even the right one?
The “right” timeline is the most probable timeline. If you ask a psychic, “Am I going to get married?” they have countless timelines that they could be looking at. The question is, what is the most probable?
There could be one timeline where you get married in a month, no matter how unlikely that seems right now. And yes, there's a timeline where you are probably single for the rest of your life. The choice of which timeline is the most probable is really up to you as a creator.
But, this can be hard for psychics, certainly. They have to parse through all of these timelines, and try to find the one that you're headed for right now.
What can get in the way of this? Quite a bit, honestly. If that psychic isn't in a good mood that day, they might tune in to more negative timelines. If they are especially happy, they might tune in to more positive timelines.
You might think you'd rather them tune in to the positive ones, but the positive timelines aren't necessarily the most probable ones.
This is why the zero state is so powerful. Yes, I know I harp on this constantly, but I've yet to find an area of life where the zero state isn't beneficial.
when a psychic enters the zero state, they are in a place of total stillness. The Akashic Records can unfold to them naturally, without being pushed this way or that.
That's why most psychics will take a moment or two to center before answering your question. They are first removing all hint of bias or preference to the answer, and entering into that inner stillness. The better they are at doing this, the better they will be at tuning in to your most probable timeline.
But, if there is leftover emotion coming from their own ego, that emotion will draw to it the timelines that are a match, just like the law of attraction dictates. Those timelines aren't necessarily true, like I said, but they will think it is true.
The Akashic Records Log All Of Your Lifetimes, Too
I figure this one is pretty obvious, but in case it isn't, I will discuss it briefly.
The Akashic Records keep a log of every one of your lifetimes, too. This includes both past and future, of course, because they have no sense of linear time.
So, one of the most common reasons for people to go into the records is to access their past lives. Many people like to see where they came from, or what experiences have influenced them to be the way they are today.
Past lives are really an entire separate subject of their own, which I'd love to discuss in a future blog post.
It helps if you see your soul as branching out into all of these bodies across countless timelines and near countless incarnations, all really happening at once. As you are sitting here right now reading this post, you may also be a 14th century farmer, or living in your high-tech smart home in the 22nd century. That's all the same to your higher self.
But on top of that, there are infinite timelines of that 14th century existence, and of your 22nd century existence, and of course of your current life as well.
Are these lifetimes all “real” in the sense that they happened on this current timeline? Who knows? And who really cares? Timelines are so transient and ever-shifting, that it really has no meaning in reality.
How to Access the Akashic Records
So how do you actually access your own Akashic Records?
I'm going to start off with a disclaimer. Everyone has the right to access their own records, of course, but that doesn't mean it is easy. If you aren't very good at entering the zero state, then it will be hard for you to get accurate information.
Now, even if the information isn't exactly “accurate”, as in existing on this present timeline, does that mean it's not valuable? No, not necessarily. It will likely still hold value for you personally. But, the more you can enter the zero state, the more accurate will be your information.
Finally, though I'll give a very basic method here, you can learn so much more about how to improve your psychic abilities and access your Akashic Records by taking our psychic course.
Here's the basic method for accessing your own records:
- Sit or lie down in a comfortable position for you.
- Relax your body progressively, allowing your awareness to scan from your head to your feet, relaxing any muscles that are tight.
- Take a moment or two to enter the zero state.
- Once you are completely centered, set the intention that you will now be accessing your Akashic Records.
- Ask your spirit guides to bring you the Akashic Records that answer your question (and ask your question here).
- Wait for any impressions—sights, sounds, or sensations—to arise. Don't doubt in them and simply observe everything that comes up.
- Thank your spirit guides for their help.
- Set the intention to close the session.
It's a simple process, but it works.
Stay tuned! I plan on releasing a guided meditation soon to help you to access your Akashic Records. Please let me know in the comments if you are interested in something like this.
