You already know about the importance of visualization and affirmations. But, is there anything you can do on the outside to help to manifest your goals?
Yes, in fact there is. And, you may already be doing some of these things. But even if so, there is probably much more you could possibly be doing, if you choose to.
This is really the intersection between magic and the law of attraction. These steps aren’t required, but they can certainly help you to increase your belief in the process.
Are We Not Supposed to Depend on Action?
So, there may be a bit of confusion here. I’ve said before that inspired action should only come when you’re lined up with the goal. So, aren’t I really just talking about action here, and if so, doesn’t this contradict what I’ve said in the past?
When I speak of inspired action, I’m talking about action you take to bring about your goal in the physical world. For instance, if your goal is to get a job, an inspired action might be to send out your resume to various companies.
As I’ve said, if it doesn’t feel good to do that, then you don’t. Inspired action will always be a reflection of your vibration. If you are fearful, then your action will reflect that fear, and the results won’t be beneficial.
So, this type of action is action taken directly on the physical world.
But, the ritualistic action I am speaking of is a bit different. It is an action taken to represent your goal. You don’t believe the action will literally cause your goal to happen as a physical consequence of the action, but it is a magical act that helps your belief and trust in the process, and helps to communicate your goal to your subconscious mind via symbolism.
So, for example, if you cast a circle, call the quarters, light some candles and chant a spell, you don’t literally believe that this will, for example, directly cause more money to flow into your life. That is, you don’t believe that after the circle is closed, you’ll just happen to find a $100 bill on your altar. Well, if you do believe that and it works, then that’s pretty awesome! 😛
But more likely, you believe that this action is a representation of your desire, and that through this action, you’ll raise and shape the energy needed to perform this magical act. Then, the Universe will get to work bringing it to you.
So, there’s a huge difference between, say, performing a ritual and entrusting the result to the Universe, and sending out your resume to try to get a job. One is indirect and magical, and the other is direct and physical.
With direct, physical actions, you want to be sure that you’re already feeling confident about your manifestation. On the other hand, an indirect, magical action is used to build that confidence so you can go out and achieve the results you desire.
The Importance of Ritual
Most law of attraction teachers focus on the inner aspect of the manifestation process. Visualization, affirmations, releasing resistance—all of these are vitally important.
But, magic has been practiced for thousands of years, and magic commonly includes ritualistic aspects, which can help with the process of achieving your desired outcome.
Magic doesn’t require ritual, and in fact much of the magic I perform is purely internal. However, ritual is certainly a huge part of common practice.
You may actually already be performing ritual without realizing it. One of the common rituals that is often recommended by law of attraction teachers is vision boards. The idea goes that if you create a board filled with pictures of your desired outcome, it will cause you to feel good when you look at it, and so it will create a path for that manifestation to come to you.
It doesn’t literally and directly do anything that is going to cause your goal to come about. Instead, it is a representation of your goal, and intended to instill greater confidence within you.
In other words, it is a magical act.
There are plenty of other examples. Abraham has the “Placemat Process”, wherein you write the actions you plan on taking, and then the things you’d like the Universe to take care of. You don’t literally think this list will require the Universe to do what you ask, but it’s just simply to make you feel better about the process—i.e., magic. 🙂
So most likely, you’re already performing magic.
But why is it so important?
The fact is that the mind is extremely hard to control. I tell you to not react emotionally to the things that you don’t want to see in your reality, and to focus on what you do want, but it is far easier said than done.
But when you represent that desire through some magical action, it somehow communicates the goal to your subconscious mind, and therefore to the Universe, in a more real, concrete, definitive way.
The subconscious mind loves action. Remember that you are both a spiritual as well as a physical being. Imagining something in your mind is great, but it often doesn’t seem quite real to your subconscious unless you act it out physically in some way as well.
Have you ever tried to speak in public? You might rehearse the speech over and over in your head, and feel pretty good about it, but it doesn’t really hit home until you’re actually in front of an audience or even practicing in front of a friend.
Like it or not, words and actions are far more rooted in physical reality than thoughts. Thoughts are a necessary foundation, but they should also have their expression in outer reality in some form.
Magic Is Always Happening
I defined magic in my last post as “The manipulation of energies in order to obtain a desired end.” And this is still by far my favorite definition.
However, I see magic in a very broad frame. I see magic as any thought, word, or action intended to achieve a particular goal.
- Are you visualizing greater abundance in your life? That’s magic.
- Are you creating a vision board for the vacation you want to go on? Magic.
- Do you wear a “lucky” shirt to help your favorite sports team to win? Magic.
- Are you sending out your resume to get a job? Yep, still magic, because of the intent to achieve a goal.
Magic is even present often without the intent to shape reality:
- Are you telling someone about what a great day you had? It’s magic, because you’re putting positive energy out there into the Universe, which will come back to you.
- Are you complaining about what a horrible day you had? Magic, for the same reason, but this time acting against you. Also known as a curse.
- Are you speaking poorly about someone else? Magic—specifically placing an unintentional curse on them.
- Are you thinking about how much you love your partner? Magic, which will benefit both you and your partner.
- Are you going out to dinner, which makes you feel abundant? It’s magic, because that abundance will come back to you.
- Are you cutting out coupons, and it makes you feel poor? Magic, because that feeling will come back to you as well.
You see, magic is happening all the time, because you are always sending energy out into the Universe.
But, deliberate magic is what I said above: intentionally using thought, word, or action to shape your reality.
That’s why I like the word magic so much more than law of attraction for this, because it much better describes what is actually going on—and, well, to me it’s just a lot cooler. ????
Using Everyday Rituals
Now, the question is, how do you put this knowledge to use? Am I saying to go make yourself a wand, along with a bunch of other magical implements, and start doing ritual magic?
No, not necessarily, unless that type of magic resonates with you.
It can be so much simpler, and I hope to give some good examples here.
As I said, magic is all around you. You’re really never not doing magic. The question is, how will you become more deliberate and intentional about it, so you can start getting the results you want to get in life?
It doesn’t require studying witchcraft and buying a whole bunch of ritual tools. It can be done with simple, everyday items, mixed with the intention to shape the energies around you to your will.
Releasing Resistance in the Shower
I’ll give a really simple one I’ve been practicing lately. Showering is a pretty simple act, right? But, what if it became a magical act?
In particular, it can be used to release resistance and clear the way to your goals.
- Before you get in the shower, set the intention of allowing this shower to wash resistance away.
- As you get in the shower, either think of your particular goal, or bring to mind the specific resistance and obstacles you’ve been facing.
- If you thought of a goal, let the resistance to that goal spring to mind.
- Allow yourself to feel that resistance in your body. Imagine it as a dark layer of energy all around your body.
- As the water hits you, imagine it washing away all that dark energy. As you wash, imagine all the dark energy just pealing away.
- Imagine that dark energy flowing down the drain and out of your life.
- Let yourself feel the new lightness that is in and around you.
Money Flows Back to You
One of my favorite rituals lately is as follows:
Essentially, when you are paying a bill, or otherwise spending money on anything necessary, bless that money as it goes out. Feel grateful for what it is accomplishing for you.
Then, also intend that this money will return to you three-fold. Imagine the money returning in greater quantity than it left. You can choose another number if you prefer, but 3 is a magical number.
If you like, make up a brief affirmation to repeat in your mind, or out loud if you are alone, which affirms this intention. Some people like to rhyme their incantations, while others don’t care either way. But, using words can help that intention to be even stronger. I don’t have specific words for this one, but it is better if they are your own, anyway.
I’ve had very good results with this type of spell. It helps me to feel more open about spending money, because I’m always feeling the feeling of greater abundance returning to me.
Here are some other ideas in regards to money that I have found (copied from this source):
- Sprinkle cinnamon on your money.
- Always hand notes folded in half.
- -Before shopping envision that whatever you spend comes back threefold.
- Sprinkle dried mint or cinnamon in your purse or wallet.
- Everyday drop a penny into a jar and say:
“My life is filled with abundance And all my needs are met.”
- Place basil leaves in pocket/purse.
- Keep an organic, unhulled almond in your purse or wallet; wrapped in a piece of green cloth and you will always have enough money.
Magic and Food
There is a very common branch of magic called kitchen witchery.
While it can be much more complex as what I will discuss here, a simple thing you can do is to tie your intention to food that you are making.
I’ve heard of a simple spell where you bake cookies, and carve a dollar sign on the top of each cookie. Then, you intend and visualize money flowing to you as each cookie is eaten.
Another simple one I’ve done is for health.
Before I eat any food, I intend that food only benefiting my body. I release any feeling of guilt or other forms of resistance. I imagine the food bringing nourishment to my body. I feel gratitude for the food, and what it will do for me. As always, you may use words if desired.
I suspect this is where the concept of saying grace came from. However, customize it to resonate to your own preferences.
Crystals are another powerful magical tool. I may write a future post about crystals in particular, but I’ll mention a bit about them in brief.
Each crystal can be used for a variety of intentions. For instance, I have recently been using citrine for manifesting abundance.
Every so often, I will take the crystal in my hand, purifying it with energy, and telling it the intentions I have for abundance. I imagine it helping me to draw money into my life, and I thank it for its aid.
There are tons of ways of using crystals, and many resources that can be found online.
Putting It All Together
The above is just a very small sampling of what is possible. My goal was to give some ideas of everyday rituals you can perform, and inspire you to discover your own as well.
Magic and the law of attraction always respond to emotion. I’m not saying that these external actions are necessary. However, they can really help.
If you’re open to it, I suggest trying one or two ideas that resonate with you. If none of the ideas in this post resonate, there are plenty of others online, or you can create your own. The only indicator of whether it works is how it makes you feel. Does it help you to feel more confident about your goal? If so, then you’ve found a magical ritual that works for you.
I also wanted to demonstrate that magic doesn’t have to be complicated rituals. It can just be adding a magical intention to an everyday action. This, to me, is living magic, not just practicing it. Magic can be added to any action, and will bring your will to bear on that situation.
How About You?
Now it’s your turn. Has this post given you some ideas for everyday rituals you can perform to help with your manifestations? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
