About two months ago, I asked this question of the Universe: “How do you manifest something big?”
I had been getting pretty comfortable with manifesting in general. I had manifested some things that were a bit outside my comfort zone, as well.
But I wanted to know, what separates those who are, say, getting by financially, vs. those who experience a completely different level of abundance?
I can feel pretty good about money, and in fact I was at the time. And, money was definitely flowing more than it had. But, it just seemed like I had reached the limits of the level I was at. I wasn't seeing the big changes I wanted to see.
And that's when I posed the above question to the Universe, not really knowing when I'd get the answer. I actually forgot about the question for quite a while.
Then, just recently, I looked back over the past two months, and realized that not only had the Universe given me the answer, I had in fact started living the answer in my own life. My money situation has improved exponentially since asking that simple question, and I've learned more about the law of attraction than I think I ever have.
So, I'd like to share that answer with you in this post.
Are Big Manifestations Just as Easy as Small Manifestations?
If you're familiar with Abraham-Hicks, then you know their common saying, “It's just as easy to manifest a castle as a button.”
But, is this really true? Is it really just as easy to manifest something big?
It's pretty easy to manifest small things that you believe in already. Most people have had the experience of manifesting a small desire pretty quickly.
But, according to Abraham, it should be just as easy to manifest the big desire as the small one.
Now, if you know me, you know that I question everything. I take nothing for granted.
Usually, anyway. For my first 8 months or so of using the law of attraction, I took Abraham as more or less gospel, as many people do. If they said it, it must be true.
If I'm not getting the results I want, it must be because I'm not in the “Vortex” where my desires are.
After a while, though, I started to see some flaws in their method. That's why I constantly tell commenters here on my blog not to try to match up what I say to the teachings of Abraham. Some stuff will match, and quite a bit won't.
But as I started to read various other authors, and started to have my own experience of the law of attraction, I started to get a clearer view of how it all works.
I saw that the traditional teachings were partially true, but also very limited, and missed out on a lot of important detail.
I say all the above to point out that if Abraham says it's just as easy to manifest a castle as a button, it doesn't mean it's necessarily true. I wanted to set out to find that out myself.
And what I found was that no, it was not just as easy, and it was pretty self-evident. If I set my focus on $20, I can often get it within hours. If I set my focus on a million dollars, well, not so much.
A million dollars just does not have the same feeling as $20. They are of the same essence, but many orders of magnitude apart.
I believe that anything is possible, but I also believe in working within your own initial boundaries. If you're not used to having more than $1,000 in the bank at once, then manifesting a million dollars is certainly not going to be believable enough, though it'll be plenty challenging.
I heard a story once of someone who set his vision on $200,000. It was far above anything he could hope to make at that time, so it was a pretty big goal.
And, he actually did indeed get the $200,000… for a short time, anyway. Within a few months, he was right back where he started.
He could barely even remember how he spent that much. A little here and a little there added up rather quickly.
The point he made was that even if you manifest that big goal, it probably won't stick around for long, because you just aren't at a place where you can hope to be a match to it. It's like a toddler, having just learned how to walk, trying to go out the door and run a marathon. It's just not going to work, no matter how much you might want it.
Yes, you hear about those people, like Jim Carrey, who are broke and yet manifest millions. But, in every example that I've seen, they had to have two elements in play:
- They held the vision of the big desire, and
- It took them often several years to accomplish it
Jim Carrey did not manifest that $10 million overnight. It took him several years. He likely had to constantly align himself with that goal, whether consciously or subconsciously, in order for him to receive it.
I've never seen an example of someone desiring a goal far higher than their current level, simply feeling good about it, and it coming into their reality quickly. That's how it works for small manifestations, so for this saying to be true, it must work the same for big manifestations, too.
2 Types of Manifesting?
Last week, I introduced the idea of two types of goals:
- Current level goals: Goals that are already easy for you, and which you can manifest without effort
- Next level goals: Goals that are above your current level and require a more active approach to manifest
I've started to see that there are really two types of manifesting: one which keeps you easily achieving your current level goals, and one which allows you to step into the next level.
I find that most techniques out there are for the first type of manifesting. They often have you test the law of attraction by manifesting something small, like a butterfly, a parking space, etc.
Then you try to apply it to a next level goal, and you start to find out that it really doesn't work so well for that, and there's not a lot of advice for how to deal with the huge amount of resistance that pops up, besides “just feel good about your goal”.
I will tell you personally, I did the step of just feeling good about my goals. And it made things flow a bit more easily, but it did not create the big changes I was looking for.
I've also talked to many people who have just “felt good” about their goals for months or even years, and saw no results whatsoever in their life.
The common response to this is, “Well, you're doing the techniques to get your goal, not to feel better.” And the answer is, “Well of course I am. I want to create this.”
There's not a ton of room for the idea that you could just want to create something for its own sake, and to desire that intensely, without having that just be for the underlying desire to feel better now.
Lower your vision to something more believable, and you'll likely have it within days. But, that doesn't solve the problem of how to manifest a next level goal.
What if there was an entirely different way of manifesting, which worked to bring you to these next level goals?
I've previously described this as the Magus path, as opposed to the traditional Hermit path.
As I've applied this new way of manifesting in my own life, things have changed drastically, and extremely quickly as well.
It's taken a lot of trust, because a lot of it is directly at odds with what you'll normally read out there. But, only after applying the Magus path have I gotten such deliberate results in my life.
I remember last year, I wanted to manifest a trip for Christine's and my anniversary. I knew that if I felt good about it, focused on it for 68 seconds, and totally let it go, that it would happen.
So, I focused on it, felt truly good about it, and totally let it go out of my mind.
Every week or two I'd re-align with that goal, but otherwise I didn't worry about it at all.
Needless to say, that trip never happened. I was left extremely confused, because I thought I had done everything right.
I did the same thing this year back in August, for our anniversary again, and I got it within a week or so, and we didn't have to pay a cent for it.
How to Step into the Next Level
The truth is, you are where you are, and that is okay.
But any time you try to make serious changes to your reality, well, your reality is going to fight back a bit. This is what we call resistance. The bigger the gap between what is, and what you want to create, the greater the resistance.
We need a method that circumvents this resistance, or even uses it to help you to move towards your goal that much more quickly.
I already discussed this method last week, so this is more a summary post than introducing a lot of new material.
Specifically, you need to create structural tension between where you are and where you want to be.
That structural tension will drive you quickly towards your goal. Structural tension is all about the gap between here and there, and your subconscious mind hates the uncertainty of that gap.
It will initially try to get you to drop your vision, to return to focusing on current reality. But if you hold your vision firmly, outer reality will begin to shift to match inner reality.
The other requirement is to make your goal non-negotiable. It should be a goal that you deliberately choose, that you are willing to put the full power of your creative will behind.
That willingness to hold to your vision no matter what is exactly what is going to keep the tension going until you reach your goal.
It sounds counterintuitive, since most people say to eliminate any tension around your goal, but it was only after applying this key that my manifestations started coming quickly and easily into my life.
Through admitting where you are now, where you want to be, and the fact that you're not there yet, you're releasing a powerful force that will magnetically pull you towards your goal.
As I said, reality will resist your attempts to create something new, at first.
However, as you hold that vision, outer reality must shift to match what you are holding within. It is precisely how the law of attraction works.
How does this circumvent resistance?
Simply because, when properly understood, resistance actually helps you to reach your goal even faster.
When resistance arises, you have two choices:
- Give in to the resistance and react to it emotionally, or
- Reaffirm your choice of your inner vision, and thereby allow the resistance to strengthen that structural tension
The only reason resistance gets in the way is because you allow it to. You react to it, and even compromise your vision, because it can be so hard to hold to the end.
But, if you continuously reaffirm your choice of your inner vision, it will come into fruition in your outer reality.
How to Manifest Something Big
So, you have a next level goal. It feels pretty uncomfortable, but it is believable enough that the resistance won't tear you apart.
First of all, be okay with the discomfort. That's perfectly natural with any big goal. If you didn't have that, I'd probably say your goal wasn't really big enough, or else you weren't courageously choosing that goal and making it non-negotiable.
Now, formally choose your goal, by saying something like, “I choose to have …,” substituting your goal as appropriate.
That simple choice will release tons of Universal Energy towards the creation of your goal.
Now, look at where you are in current reality. Look at how your reality is aligned, or not aligned, with your goal, as well as the degree of alignment. Be honest with yourself.
Then, admit that you simply haven't reached your goal yet. Feel excited for when you reach it, because you have committed to hold that vision to the end. But, you're not there yet. Be willing to live in that gap of uncertainty.
Every day, do the basic technique of meditating on and aligning yourself with your goal, by first entering the zero state, and then taking on the vibrational signature of that goal. This part actually does not change at all.
The only part that truly changes is firstly, making your goal non-negotiable, and committing to holding your vision of that goal to the end; and secondly, creating structural tension that will not resolve until you reach your goal.
With these elements in place, you will find yourself moving quickly towards your next level goals. I'm not saying it'll be easy, but you'll see things moving a lot faster than before.
