In yesterday’s podcast, we had a detailed discussion about past lives, karma, and how that affects your manifestations.
For me this brought up another topic I’ve been wanting to discuss, as a very potent technique for releasing karma and resistance of all kinds.
And that technique is, as simple as it sounds, self-forgiveness.
So, what is self-forgiveness and how is it important in releasing stuck energy that is keeping you from your goal? That’s what I’ll be discussing in today’s post.
What’s Karma Have to Do with It?
Yesterday I said that karma is really just another word for the law of attraction. It has nothing to do with morality, or balance, or anything like that.
Karma is simply the method by which the Universe returns back to you that which is reflective of who you are within. However, karma, depending on its source, can be a bit longer-lasting and more persistent than simple resistance.
The reason is that karma often has a large guilt component to it. We tend to moralize our actions, and so when we feel like we’ve done something wrong, that becomes stuck in our subconscious.
For example, about 10 years ago I was working on starting a web hosting business. Unfortunately, I was pretty naïve at the time, and ended up partnering with someone who scammed me out of what was at the time a lot of money for me.
Because of that scammer, a customer of mine didn’t get what they should have gotten, and there wasn’t really anything I could have done about it.
For several years after the fact, I felt guilty about that incident. Unfortunately I no longer had the contact information for that customer, so I couldn’t make things right directly.
That’s the kind of thing I mean by karma, though it doesn’t have to take that form, or necessarily have anything to do with guilt. This is just a common way that it presents itself.
What’s that have to do with the law of attraction? Though it’s rather indirect, there was energy stuck there that could block potential manifestations from coming. Because of its indirectness, I have no way of knowing what it may or may not have blocked, since it doesn’t present as normal resistance—e.g., fear about a manifestation not happening. It just sits in the background, silently sabotaging events.
It’s Not a Moral Issue
I keep emphasizing this, but it’s extremely important to understand: karma is not a moral issue. Resistance is not a moral issue.
With my example above, the karma generated from that experience wasn’t in order to punish me for how I handled things. It was purely an energetic phenomenon.
A good example is warfare. Some people will come home and have PTSD. Others will have little to no negative effects whatsoever. It’s not based on morality, but more based on how each person reacted emotionally and mentally to the situations they encountered.
The same goes for self-forgiveness. When I talk about self-forgiveness, I’m not saying that you did something wrong and you have to atone for it or something.
What I’m saying is that there is stuck energy, and self-forgiveness is one of the most powerful forces to dislodge that.
You have to realize that unlike what most religious people tend to believe, there is no one out there judging your actions as either right or wrong.
Certainly you have spirit guides who recognize whether your actions are beneficial to you or not, but no one out there is ever judging you.
This is why I talk about self-forgiveness, and not trying to ask God or the Universe for forgiveness, or something silly like that.
God doesn’t care what you do. The Universe doesn’t care what you do. This is your universe, after all. This is your reality.
But, you care. You often judge yourself. And that will leave you stuck, unless you reverse that.
How Self-Forgiveness Helps to Heal Resistance
The natural state of your soul is free, light, and joyful.
Actually your soul is always free, light, and joyful. However, you aren’t always tuned in to that.
As you go through your various lives, you get bits of energy that get stuck in your system. You can call this resistance, karma, or whatever else you like.
As this energy gets stuck, it results in certain habits of thoughts and behaviors that tend to perpetuate that stuckness. In the East these are called vāsanās.
When a lot of these build up, it blocks out the natural light of your soul. It’s apparent, to me at least, that many people are going around nearly completely blocking out their own soul’s natural light.
And of course, when this happens, it results in even more imbalance, karma, and even sickness.
So, what does self-forgiveness do here?
It melts away those blockages, releases the stuck energy, and allows your true Self to shine through.
I’ve made a practice recently of always telling myself, “I forgive you,” for something I felt stuck about. And I’ve noticed that every time I’ve done this, I feel a sense of relief and lightness flow through me.
It could be something as simple as, “I forgive myself for obsessing about this resistance.” “I forgive myself for having this fear.” “I forgive myself for trying to figure things out right now.”
For me, it just really softens the whole thing and allows energy to flow so much more freely.
How This Helps with the Law of Attraction
As I’ve been saying lately, the law of attraction must come from a level of soul, not ego. It must come from a place of alignment with your Core Essence, not of misalignment.
When you’re walking around with a lot of that blocked out, how successful do you think you’ll be at manifesting?
When you block out your soul, you can only act from a place of ego.
And when you try to manifest from ego, you try to force things. You try to make them happen. And, as we all know, it doesn’t work!
So, when you release those blockages and stuck energies through self-forgiveness, you can much more easily act from a place of alignment with your soul, and so things will manifest far more easily for you.
But not only that. When you use self-forgiveness to heal the small things, like fear that what you want won’t happen, obsessing about a goal, or trying to figure things out, those things are also released and you’re freed to take a far more effortless path to manifesting.
Try it right now. Take a goal that you feel stuck about, and just feel that stuckness.
And now, just forgive yourself for being in that place right now.
This is not condemnation. It’s not judgment.
It’s just the willingness to forgive and be okay with what is here right now.
How does that feel when you do that?
This reminds me a lot of the ho’oponopono technique of saying the four phrases, “Thank you. I love you. Please forgive me. I’m sorry.”
Except, I’m not a big fan of that because “please forgive me” does feel too much like a moral judgment. Like, “I did something wrong and I’m in the Universe’s debt, so please forgive me.”
You’re in no one’s debt. You only have to extend that forgiveness to yourself. Not because you did anything wrong, but simply because you’ve gotten stuck, and that’s okay.
Takeaways
So if there’s anything you should remember from this post, it’d be this:
- Karma isn’t about morality. It just means energy has gotten stuck in your system.
- Self-forgiveness is the tool by which you can heal any resistance.
- Self-forgiveness doesn’t mean you’ve done something wrong, only that you’ve gotten stuck, and that’s okay.
- When you act from your soul, manifestations come far more easily for you.
How About You?
Now it’s your turn. How are you stuck with your own goals? What difference do you notice as you use self-forgiveness? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
