In this podcast, Brandon, Christine, and Justin discuss the gods and their role in the law of attraction. When you are creating, how much of your success is your own, and how much is thanks to the Universe or your personal deities? In this episode you will learn about how manifestation works, why establishing a relationship with a god can be helpful, and much more!

Brandon: Welcome to Co-Create Your Life. This is episode 20, “How Much Credit Can the Gods Take for Your Creations?” I am Brandon Olivares.
Christine: And I’m Christine Olivares.
Justin: And I’m Justin Williams.
Brandon: You sound very excited about that today. [laughs]
Justin: Yes, I succeeded today.
Brandon: [laughs] You’re happy to be Justin Williams today.
Justin: I’m happy that I got the scholarship thing done.
Brandon: Good. Good job. Today, once again we’re talking about the gods. I’m really excited about this topic. I think it’s something we don’t talk about too much. We really should. Other law of attraction teachers don’t talk about it at all. It’s something that should be covered, I believe. We’re going to be talking about, in your manifestations and creations, how much is yours and how much is thanks to the gods? You may have personal deities, or the universe, or whatever you consider your higher power or powers. Before that, as always, our announcements: If you would like to see the show notes for this episode or read the transcript or leave a comment, you can go to cocreationcoaching.org/create020.
We have a new digit today. It’s episode number 20.
Christine: About time, right?
Brandon: I know. If you would like to ask a question for one of our episodes, you can go to cocreationcoaching.org/ask/create, and you can submit your question there. Again, we’re talking about the gods and about how you know what is up to you and what is up to them and how much help they’ve given you.
The Smoothness of Manifesting
Brandon: I’ll tell you an introduction to why I am talking about this. The reason I’m discussing this today is because I noticed something. For a while, everyone who has been listening to these podcasts or reading my blog posts for a while knows that I was working with Hades starting last October. For a while, I had moved away from that. For a while, I thought perhaps I had learned what I had to learn and it was time to move on. So I moved on for a few months.
Then I noticed differences. I noticed that energy was missing from my life. I always noticed his energy, and that was missing. I enjoyed working with him, obviously, so there was that. Also, things weren’t as smooth. I was still able to create, but things weren’t as smooth as they were. How much of that was down to my own resistance and how much was down to that change—that’s what we’re going to discuss, really. I had just noticed that it wasn’t as smooth as it was.
I decided to start working with him again. It has moved more. His energy is back and we’ve worked together. I’ve learned a lot more since then. That was something I learned in the process. That’s what I’m going to talk about today: how does that work? How does all of this come together? A lot of law of attraction teachers will basically tell you, “It’s all you. It’s all you. You get to choose what you want to create, and you create it. It’s all in your power, and that’s it. The universe will just follow.” Is that necessarily true? How do the gods fit into all that? That’s really what the question is. Justin, I know you have experience with gods, but your thing is angels.
Justin: Angels and saints and animal spirits.
Brandon: That’s what we’re going to be talking about. It’s really a difficult thing because it’s so subtle. I had been thinking about it when I did move away from working with Hades. It was a very subtle thing. It was something I noticed here and there. Things aren’t as smooth. Things aren’t working out quite as well as they had been. My manifestations take a bit more energy. What’s going on? I’ve talked about why you might want to work with a god or gods before. I’ve had some posts on that. I still do recommend that. With people I’ve spoken to, people who do work with gods say, “I don’t know why someone wouldn’t want to work with one.”
Justin: Or something.
Brandon: Right, or something.
Christine: In my life, I’ve noticed that (before, I didn’t take my faith as seriously) since I’ve been going back to church (I promise this is not a testimony)…
Brandon: Christine is evangelizing.
Justin: Testimony, oh, boy.
Christine: Not a testimony. But for me, ever since I started doing music at the church, I realized something had been missing. I love the Episcopal Church, but there is just something different about the Catholic Church. Do I agree with everything? No, but that’s okay. I feel like, the important things I do. I feel more complete than I ever did.
Brandon: Right. That’s awesome. What’s been your experience, Justin?
Justin: Wait. You said you’re playing in an Episcopal church, right?
Christine: I was.
Brandon: No, she’s playing in a Catholic church.
Christine: I was, but that’s a story in itself. I was at the Episcopal Church, and I had to stop. There are two Catholic churches. There are actually three in my hometown, but there are two close. One is across the street from me. There’s one down the road a while. How do I explain this? I worked at one for a while because they needed an organist. Then they got an organist. Then the organist at the church I’m at now resigned. But they’re both Catholic churches.
What Exactly Do Deities, Angels, and Saints Do for Your Manifestations?
Justin: Okay. The reason I asked is, definitely you find the rhythm of your spiritual or faith part of it, it works. For me, I call angels and some saints and stuff like that because they overlook the prayer/spell/manifesting ritual, whatever you want to call it. They overlook it. With you, you’ve got to cover everything. No. If it’s just you in the universe, it will conspire with you, but in a general and balanced way. For me, with the angels or whatever, it doesn’t take as much energy. They’re helping you, whereas once you let go the energy of the universe, it goes until it runs out. The saint or deity or angel will continue with it longer and will fix gaps that you just didn’t see or anticipate.
Brandon: Right. Like I said, it smooths it out. I really have nothing to compare that to. I guess, coincidentally, the most successful period of my life started in October when I started working with my deity. But at the time, I believed it was just because he taught me pretty much everything I know about the law of attraction besides what I’ve picked up from “Hypnosis and the Law of Attraction” by Joe Tabinella. That’s been one of the big resources in my life. Hades taught me everything I know or led me to resources that taught me everything I know about the law of attraction. He taught me the tips and I applied them, so of course I’ve been successful. That was true, but when I wasn’t working with him as much or at all, the energy just wasn’t there. The smoothness just wasn’t there. It was a lot choppier.
Christine: The thing is, you were with another deity, weren’t you?
Brandon: Yeah. Each one has a different connection. I still work with that one, too. Each one has a different connection and purpose in your life. Hades is a lot more personable. He will get involved and become hands-on a lot more than some of the other deities I’ve worked with. Once you find your deity (I’ve talked about how to do that before) for you, things will change. It’s a relationship. They’re going to help you, and then you’ll do things for them sometimes. It depends on what they might request of you. I didn’t notice that smoothing-out effect until it wasn’t there. That was really interesting. Just like what you said, Justin, they can help you bridge that gap more. They can take it a lot farther than you necessarily could on your own. I do think, obviously people can do this on their own. Can people create on their own? Yes, of course.
Brandon: Everyone creates moment by moment by moment.
Justin: They also keep you afloat when you’re not creating or things aren’t going right. They will keep you afloat. They have their own abilities and what they do for you. Sometimes what they do for you is a little different. Archangel Raphael for me is more day-to-day traveling and perception and intelligence and stuff like that—very mundane, everyday needs. But he doesn’t heal for me. But I can use him to heal for other people. For me, the healer is Jesus or Metatron or even Archangel Michael. I switch up as I go, but it’s not as much Archangel Raphael for me. It just depends. For me, Archangel Gabriel channels a lot of information to me. Even other angels and archangels, she can make it more clear for me to hear when I’m doing channeling and stuff. It just depends. She’s really good at delivering messages and getting my point across in situations when I need to across the ethers. It just depends on how it works for you. They bring things to you. It depends on how your relationship is with them, but they really help with manifestation in different ways.
Christine: That’s why, in the Catholic Church, (you’ll know this, Justin) there are different saints for different things. But some of them have two things.
Christine: There’s the patron saint of cooking. Saint Anthony is for finding things and for one other, I can’t remember.
Justin: Miracles. Saint Anthony does a lot of stuff. He’s the finding saint and he’s also the saint of miracles.
Christine: I didn’t know that.
Brandon: There’s always going to be, for each god or saint or angel or whatever, an objective list people put together of what that being will do, but you don’t know until you have a relationship with them.
Christine: It’s different for everyone.
Do You Have to Have a Relationship, or Can You Just Ask?
Brandon: I don’t like when people will just call on a deity or saint or angel without a relationship, as though it’s a magic trick. This happens with Saint Anthony all the time. I guess in the Catholic Church, you don’t necessarily have relationships with saints, but people don’t really bother with that saint until they need to find something. “Hey, Saint Anthony, I never ever talk to you any other time, but right now I’ve got to find something, so you’re really cool.” [laughs]
Justin: “You’re really cool.” Some of them will just answer your call, but some of them won’t. I’m about to call on Saint Jude. It’s the first time I’ve done it. When I was in the shop, they said, “You should have this basil oil.” I said, “You know what? Early today I saw basil and Saint Jude, so let me get this Saint Jude candle.” I’m going to use them myself and call on him.
Christine: And I disagree with you a little bit, Brandon, because you don’t always have a relationship with your doctor. You go to the doctor and that’s it.
Brandon: But that’s not what a god is, though. A god is not a doctor.
Christine: But a saint is, because they’re lower.
Brandon: I don’t know. Some of them will do this because they’re good-natured, but a lot of them…
Justin: You’ve got to watch doing it with some of them, though.
Brandon: Like I said, some of them are good-natured and will do whatever.
Christine: You don’t have time to have a relationship with so many saints.
Justin: No, you’re right.
Brandon: You have to be selective. That’s the point. It’s not a spell where you say these words and it’s done. I think that cheapens the whole experience.
Justin: Sometimes, if you need a saint truly to do something, but you don’t have a relationship, by all means just call on them if you feel like that’s the thing to do. But you really should build a relationship with them if you can. It’s like a friend. It’s going to be a lot easier to ask a friend to do something rather than someone you don’t really know. The person you don’t really know still might help you. They might help you, but they might not. They may help you in the wrong way, or they may just screw you over.
Brandon: I know it’s a fictional book, but it was interesting how they portrayed it. I read this series called The Demons of Aslan. It was a really good series, by the way. In the second and third book (I’m going to try not to give any spoilers away) there were these saints and other avatars involved of this fictional god called Tiernan and other gods, too. They portrayed these saints as the saints had followers and the saints had connections to those followers. They could flow mana to those followers.
Christine: Mana is energy, by the way.
Brandon: Everyone knows what mana is!
Brandon: They could hear the prayers of their followers and answer them. A random saint that doesn’t have that person as a follower, isn’t really going to hear them. They might hear them, but it’s not going to be as strong as a follower who has actually built a relationship. The saints in the book actually knew their closer followers by name, where they were located, what kind of stuff they were dealing with. I thought it was a really cool portrayal of how it worked. That’s a really good argument for the gods.
You have to build a relationship because otherwise they’re not going to really know you that well. They won’t be able to help you as much or be as inclined to. I think that that’s a really important thing. Not to say you have to every time, but it’s a two-way street, so to speak. It’s a two-way relationship. If you’re always calling on aid, then some might not mind that, but it takes them for granted in a way. I think it’s really important to build that relationship as much as you can. My point was you have these lists of “this god is good for this thing”, but you don’t know what your relationship with them will be or how it will take shape until you actually formulate it and begin communicating with them. Like with you, Justin, you were saying Raphael doesn’t really help you with healing, but other stuff.
Brandon: You wouldn’t actually know that unless you began a relationship. For instance, with Hades, there’s not a lot of historical precedent because the Greeks really didn’t do anything with Hades. They avoided him at all costs.
Justin: They did.
Brandon: He’s the death god, the god of the underworld. They didn’t think he was evil or anything, but he was death. Why would you want to mess with him? But I started feeling drawn towards him. When I started doing research, I saw a lot of other people who had a good relationship with him and said he was kind and gentle. I began my own relationship and it was totally different from what you might expect. The god of the underworld—you wouldn’t expect the kind of energy I actually experienced. Now, if someone else reached out to him, he might be totally different.
Some Deities and Beings May Not Want to Work with You
Justin: He might be. He may not like you.
Brandon: [laughs] Exactly.
Christine: And you’ll know. It’s not like they’ll do anything bad, but you’ll just feel a clash of energy.
Justin: No, they just won’t help you.
Brandon: You won’t be able to make that link.
Christine: That’s how I am with…
Justin: They won’t help you. If you mess around with them too much, they might, but usually you know immediately. I know the areishas told me no specifically. I got that from Oshun. I learned why a few years later.
Brandon: It might just not be time, either.
Justin: That, and I didn’t call on Alegba to open the crossroads. I didn’t know that. If I had messed around with Oshun after doing something like that and didn’t understand, it would not have been good. You’ve got to know. That’s why it’s important to do your research and to know what you are doing.
Christine: People always say to me, “Pray to Saint Lucy.” I don’t feel a connection with her at all. I don’t know why. I don’t know why. Maybe I haven’t really tried. Every time I do, I don’t know what I feel.
Brandon: I think this is what some people are missing: these beings have to be real beings to you, not just archetypes. Some people are what you would call soft polytheists. I don’t know what the equivalent term would be for saints or angels. [laughs] They see their beings (gods or angels or saints) as archetypes or ideas or forces. They don’t give them the respect I believe they deserve. To me, I think you should see them as real beings.
How Do You Create a Relationship?
Christine: What is the best way, then, to have a relationship instead of saying, “Please help me, please help me, please help me”?
Justin: Reach out, meditation. For example, I’ve got candle with Saint Jude on them. I’ve got a Saint Lucy pendant that I actually put in the moonlight. It’s on a chain with a black tourmaline on it. I’ve got statues and candles. It’s prayers. It’s calling on them in meditation. It’s speaking to them by asking them to come and talk to you while you’re meditating. Stuff like that.
Brandon: I would start, honestly, with meditation or some sort of contemplative practice. I’d invite them to come to you. Say, “If you’re interested in connecting with me, please come.” Make it a request—a question, not a demand. Wait to feel their energy. As always, with anything in magic or law of attraction or spirituality, you have to feel the energy. You have to sense the energy.
Justin: Do your research.
Brandon: Yes, do your research, obviously.
Justin: Put out some of their symbols.
Brandon: After I started my relationship with Hades, I got a nice statue of him. I don’t do too much with the statue, but when I’m passing, sometimes I’ll acknowledge it. It doesn’t have to be anything formal. Energy, connect with it, see what it feels like. Then you can start asking different things. See what they help you with. See what they don’t. That’s what I would do to start a relationship. It’s a relationship, not a one-way thing. It’s important to do that and to see them as real beings that have interests that may or may not want to help you. They’re not required to help you.
Christine: I think the reason Catholics don’t, really, is because they ask them to intercede. They ask them to intercede for you with God.
Brandon: If someone calls me up and says, “Hey, would you intercede for me? Would you pray for me?” No one would ask me because that would be weird, but if they were to, and I didn’t know that person at all, and they were asking me about some issue I really don’t care about, I’d be like, “Mmmeh.”
Justin: That’s exactly what a saint will do. It’s just as important to build a relationship with a saint as with a deity. The one caveat being saints are supposed to pray for you. They pray technically for the Catholic Church. “Catholic” means “united,” so they’re supposed to pray for humankind in a way. Not totally like that, but I’m giving a basic rough example. Pray only for certain groups of people, but they help intercede for you to the Creator. Sometimes you can sort of get away with it. In a prayer circle here on Earth, maybe you don’t know the person you’re praying for. You may not get the same results…
Brandon: A bit more potent.
Justin: …if you build a relationship. They won’t go to bat for you anymore.
Christine: You have a point. I’ve heard my Catholic friends say, “I have a devotion to Saint so-and-so.” They’ll really pray to that saint and spend time with that saint or whatever. It is true. Saint Anthony, I don’t know. I feel like he’s very good-natured and very funny. I don’t think he’d really care. I know people who have real devotions to him. They’ll pray and all this stuff.
Justin: They’ll give to the poor and stuff like that. For example, Saint Jude likes you to donate to St. Jude’s Hospital. Saint Expedite wants you to spread his name around and give him a coin. Leave him some poundcake and water at the crossroads. Stuff like that. Certain deities want you to do certain things. I don’t know what Hades wants.
Brandon: I’ve asked him. He’s never told me. Never. Not once. So I still don’t know. I figure I’ll request it eventually, if he wants it.
Christine: Maybe you’re just doing it.
Justin: “I just want you, Brandon.”
Brandon: “I want your soul, haha!” [laughs] Maybe I accidentally sold my soul, I don’t know. I’ve asked him. I figure if he wants something, he’ll tell me. I’ve literally said, “You’ve done a lot for me. What do you want?” I’ve tried to do research on what kind of offering would be appropriate, and it just didn’t feel right.
Christine: It didn’t feel right.
Brandon: He’ll tell me if he wants something. I’ve never gotten backlash or anything for not doing something. Deities will do that if you don’t hold your end of the bargain.
Justin: Yes, deities will.
Brandon: He hasn’t done that. Getting to the main point of what do they help you with and how much of that is them and how much is you, again, as we said, it depends on the deity, obviously. I think it’s a matter of on your own, you can definitely do it. You are a creator, moment by moment. I don’t like the traditional religious view that we’re totally beholden to God and we can’t do anything besides God’s power, blah blah blah. That’s false.
Justin: That’s false, yes.
Brandon: That’s false. We are creators. We have immense power. We have the same power that the universe and gods have. We have the same power—it’s just not as awakened, I’ll say. It’s not as fully there. Now, for some, it is, if you’ve really really attuned to that and awakened to that. That’s why there are masters and ascended masters and so on. We have that same power. Don’t let anyone ever tell you we don’t have that power.
We absolutely do have that power, but we can use a boost. We can use help and aid. That’s not giving up your power. It’s just adding on to it. I’ve mentioned this before in the psychic class. It’s like when you work with deities—it’s like networking, in a way. I hate that word because it brings up some negative connotations. It’s sort of like networking. You’re building up a group of friends or associates who will help you when you need it and that has been there and knows how to help you.
Deities Are Not Omniscient
Brandon: For instance, I signed up for business coaching. Some of you know this. I signed up for business coaching to help to grow Co-Creation Coaching. This person is someone who’s going to help me share her experience to allow me to grow my business. That’s sort of what I mean. When you work with the right deities, they will help you in the way that they know how. This is kind of an anti-religious idea: they’re not omniscient, but they have a lot more knowledge than we do. They have a ton of knowledge, but they don’t have all knowledge.
Justin: They know how to take theirs and apply it to many situations. There’s a point where they’re going to be like, I will apply it. Now you need to go do something else.
Christine: But can’t some of them tell you what will happen in the future, though, too?
Justin: Yes. Absolutely.
Christine: Isn’t that omniscient, then?
Brandon: No. They don’t know everything. And they could be wrong because things could change.
Christine: If you change it.
Brandon: Right. Things can change.
Justin: Yes, or things get changed by somebody else doing something strange and then you have to adjust. They could be wrong, but they have a better chance of predicting it than you do.
Brandon: Right. They have a much wider, broader perspective than you do. You see a single tree, and they see the whole forest. They can see the path ahead, but they can’t see absolutely everything. It just depends. They’re not omniscient.
Justin: They might see everything on this path in this reality, but if you shift a little bit, maybe they only got part of it or half of it. It just depends. [laughs]
Brandon: They can definitely help you a lot. When you’re creating, I do recommend having a relationship with some deity or more.
Justin: They can protect you, too.
Brandon: Yes, they’ll protect you. I do recommend having a relationship with at least one or more. They will help you with your manifestations in several ways. They can give advice. That’s a ton of what Hades will do for me: giving advice. I will say, “Tell me what I need to do to make this work,” and pretty soon I’ll have an idea of what I have to do. They will extend your energy, so to speak, so it goes farther. Like you said, Justin, so you can bridge that gap more easily. They can at least a bit go against your vibration so even if you’re not quite there yet they can push things along.
Brandon: They can just give you random gifts and random experiences.
Justin: Random gifts, random experiences. They can help you break the curve. They can do things outside of all the law of attraction stuff we’ve discussed.
Brandon: What do you mean by that exactly?
Justin: Instead of you taking “I’m going to go to the next level,” they can make sure that the level you’re on will give you all the abundance you can get on that level, like random gifts. Stuff that you did not anticipate, they can do. They can hit home runs for you. Drop something in your lap. “Oh, wow. How did that happen?” You don’t even know how it happened half the time.
Brandon: That’s usually one of the biggest indicators that it was from one of them. I will have this happen all the time. I just had something like this last week, and I don’t remember what it was now. It was towards the end of last week, and I just don’t remember. They will sometimes just have an awesome experience happen to you and give you random experiences or gifts that you just know didn’t come from you. Not entirely, at least. It’s just something that comes into your reality. It’s a nice little bonus. It’s really cool when it happens.
Christine: It wasn’t getting the certain amount of money you wanted, was it?
Justin: They can move things along in bursts. That happens with Archangel Razeal. Really move some stuff along. You’re not even sure how it really happened. It feels surreal. How did we just get this?
Brandon: Right, exactly.
Justin: Did I even use law of attraction? I guess I did. [laughs] I guess I did. I’d be hard pressed to tell you what happened.
Brandon: Right. I didn’t really focus on this.
Christine: That’s how my jobs happened. They just fell into my lap.
Brandon: Christine reminded me of an experience I had last week. I don’t think this was the thing I was thinking of, but it’s a good example. I was trying to manifest $200 extra than I was expecting. I thought at first it had been a close miss, because I got two extra clients, one for $125 and one for $70. That’s $195. I was writing to the Order list about my experience. I had this goal of $200 for this week, and I got $195 so it was really close. Then I sent it, and I said, “Wait! Christine got $10 out of the blue!” It didn’t even cross my mind. When I sent the email back, I just kind of heard Hades chuckling. It was really there all the time. It just slid in. It was so subtle. “You actually did do it.”
Justin: You did do it.
Brandon: “You actually did do it. You didn’t realize it.” That kind of thing. It’s so funny. It’s awesome to have that kind of relationship. There’s all sorts of things. We’ve only covered the basics. It’s so hard to cover more because it’s so personal, but that’s the kind of thing that will happen when you start working with someone specific. Again, yes, you can do it on your own.
Christine: It’s a lot more work.
Brandon: You can go so much further when you have assistance. Just like with a coach, they can push you a lot farther. Yes, you can probably do it on your own, maybe.
Brandon: But someone who has experience can help you a lot more. That’s even more true with a deity. Like I said, it’s not giving up power. It’s supplementing the power you do have. It’s all your power. It really is. They will help you to have access to even more of that power as time goes on. That’s what happened to me.
Differences Between Asking Angels and Asking Deities
Justin: Angels just want a good thank-you and for you to put in the effort. They also want you to make sure that….You need to ask them for exactly what they want you to do to connect with them. Then a thank-you at the end of it. Put in the effort, and they’ll help you out. The caveat with them is they will not help you unless you ask them or you are in serious jeopardy in a way that’s off your life lessons path. Then they’ll pull you back in there. If you’re in a car accident and you’re going to die and you’re not supposed to, they might save you then. But other than that, angels will not help you unless you ask. Now, you might ask and they might hear you and just do it, but for the most part, you have to ask them and build a relationship. If you do, they’ll keep helping you.
Brandon: Whereas the deities, by and large, you do have to build a relationship. They will just surprise you sometimes. They’ll surprise you.
Justin: They’ll surprise you.
Brandon: I love that. [laughs]
Justin: They’ll surprise you, but the angels and archangels you’ve got to ask them to keep surprising you. They don’t want to interfere, which is good. That’s just what they do. One’s not better than the other. It just depends on what you want or need or what you connect with. It’s always about what you connect with the most, not what you think is the best. Animal spirits just want you to honor them.
Brandon: Each one’s different.
Justin: Yes, each one’s different.
Brandon: I hope that clarifies things. I know there are a lot of people who prefer to do things more traditionally and not even bother with that kind of stuff. I hope for those who are open-minded to finding a deity and working with them and growing a relationship, or those who already have that kind of relationship and might wonder, “How much of this is really me?” I hope we were able to answer that a little bit. It comes down to intuition, I guess. You’re not really going to be able to tell it was 95% me and 5% my deity.
Christine: It doesn’t really matter.
Brandon: It doesn’t really matter. It’s just having that backup and knowing that it’s there. That’s the point. That’s really what it’s all about. Trust me, it does make a difference. It makes a total difference. It’s really awesome when you have someone you enjoy working with. It’s really, really nice. Hopefully that helps everyone. I hope you enjoyed this discussion.
